Assistant Coach Mickey Nelson

Mickey Nelson begins her first season as an assistant coach of the Ohio Wesleyan University field hockey team.

Nelson comes to Ohio Wesleyan from Hood (Md.) College, where she served as a graduate assistant coach for 2 seasons.  During her time at Hood, the Blazers set school season records for goals, assists, and shots, and received their first honorable mention All-Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth selection in 4 seasons.  Nelson also has 6 years' experience coaching U14-U19 with the Metro Field Hockey Club in Leesburg, Va.

She is a 2021 graduate of Goucher College, where she played for 3 seasons.  During her Gopher career, Nelson was a 3-time National Academic Squad selection by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as well as a 3-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll choice.  She majored in history with a concentration in secondary education.  Nelson continued her education at Hood, earning a master's degree in multidisciplinary studies in education.
